A 50 gram gold bar is a popular size for investors wanting to hold a substantial amount of physical gold without choosing a very large bar. It is among our best-selling sizes.
Holland Gold sells 50 gram bars from internationally recognized refineries including Umicore, C. Hafner and Argor Heraeus. All our bars come from LBMA-accredited refineries, helping international recognition and tradability. Depending on the producer, you can choose minted or cast versions.

A 50 gram gold bar contains 50 grams of fine gold and is made for investment. Holland Gold's bars have a purity of 999.9 and display details such as weight, purity and the refinery's logo or accreditation mark.
Despite its weight, a 50 gram bar remains compact. It takes up little space and can be stored in a safe or secure storage facility.
Holland Gold offers Umicore, C. Hafner and Argor Heraeus 50 gram bars, among others. Available versions depend on current stock.
Yes. Holland Gold's 50 gram bars come from internationally recognized refineries such as Umicore, C. Hafner and Argor Heraeus. These refineries are on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Good Delivery List and meet strict standards for quality, purity and production.
This matters to investors because the refineries are internationally known in the gold market. It helps their bars be recognized and traded when you later sell them.
Minted or cast: which production method suits 50 grams?
Depending on the producer, you can choose a minted or cast 50 gram gold bar.
A minted bar is made from gold sheet, then precisely stamped and finished. This generally gives it a regular, uniform appearance.
A cast bar is made by melting gold and pouring it into a mold. After cooling, the bar is finished and marked with its weight, purity and producer's logo, for example by stamping or laser engraving. Hafner, for example, offers a regular minted 50 gram bar and a C. Hafner 50 gram gold bar - casted. The method does not affect the amount of gold. Choosing minted or cast therefore mainly comes down to preferred appearance and finish. Prices may differ due to production costs, brand and availability.
For details on both methods, read our FAQ on the difference between a minted and a cast gold bar.
A 50 gram bar may suit investors wanting to invest a larger amount without buying a single 100 or 250 gram bar. Dividing the purchase among several 50 gram bars gives more flexibility: you can later sell one and keep the rest. If you want exactly 50 grams and expect to sell it all at once, one 50 gram bar can also suit your plans.
The premium per gram matters too. Production, packaging and trading costs weigh less per gram for a 50 gram bar than for many smaller bars. This offers many investors a relatively favorable price per gram with flexibility for any later sale.
The price of a 50 gram bar consists of the market value of its gold plus a premium. The premium covers production, processing and trading costs, among others.
Premiums vary by producer and version. Bars of the same weight from different producers can have different selling prices even though they contain the same amount of gold. Market conditions also affect the final price.
The gold price changes throughout the trading day, so the price of a 50 gram bar changes too. Check our current gold price and current 50 gram product prices. When comparing bars or coins, consider not just total cost but also price per gram and premium above the gold value.
Want to sell your 50 gram bar later? Holland Gold buys back gold bars. Our sell to us page shows current buyback prices and terms.
The buyback price follows movements in gold prices. You can place a sell order online and lock in the quoted price at that moment.
Holland Gold offers a buyback guarantee for bars purchased from us. Bars originally bought from other dealers can also be sold to us.
Yes. Holland Gold's 50 gram bars are exempt from VAT. In the Netherlands, gold bars meeting the statutory conditions for investment gold qualify for the exemption. These include requirements for gold purity and bar weight. No VAT is charged when you buy a qualifying 50 gram bar.
Gold weight and purity determine the amount of gold. The brand may matter for recognition, packaging, finish and tradability. Holland Gold therefore sells bars from internationally recognized producers including C. Hafner, Umicore and Argor Heraeus.
That depends on the producer and version. Many 50 gram bars carry a unique serial number and come with packaging or product information identifying the bar. The bar itself also shows details such as weight, purity and producer's logo.
As an investment, there is generally no difference between a minted and a cast bar. On resale to us, you almost always receive the same amount for both. Their purity is the same too: both contain 99.99% gold and are 24 carats. The main difference is shape and finish. Some investors have a strong preference. Many choose whichever 50 gram version is in stock, whether cast or minted.
You can store a bar yourself, for example in a suitable safe. Consider security and the terms and maximum coverage of your insurance. If you prefer not to keep gold at home, Holland Gold also offers secure, insured professional storage.
A 50 gram bar is surprisingly compact. Exact dimensions vary by producer and version. A C. Hafner minted 50 gram bar, for example, measures about 55 × 30 × 1.8 mm: a flat rectangular bar.
The C. Hafner casted 50 gram bar is shorter and thicker at about 20.2 × 20.2 × 7.8 mm. Both contain the same 50 grams of gold. Only their shape and dimensions differ.
