With a storage account, you can:

  • benefit from faster buying and selling processes;
  • use the precious metals account to purchase physical gold, silver, platinum or palladium per gram, with insured storage in Switzerland;
  • set up a savings plan to buy gold, silver, platinum or palladium periodically;
  • have precious metals stored in the Netherlands, Switzerland or Singapore.

Opening and holding a storage account is free of charge and without obligation. Storage fees are only charged once you have precious metals stored with us.

Types of storage accounts

You can open a personal account, joint account, child account or business account.

Is my precious metal insured in storage?

Yes, your gold, silver, platinum and palladium in storage are insured for the full replacement value. This means that if something happens to your property, you will receive the same product back.

This means that your precious metals are insured for the value needed to replace them with an equivalent product. In the event of damage, loss or another insured event, the full replacement value is therefore used as the basis.

For more information, please read our page about storage at Holland Gold.

How quickly can I have my precious metals delivered from storage?

You can submit a request to have your precious metals removed from storage at any time. Once we have received all the correct information and documents, precious metals stored in the Netherlands can usually be ready for collection within one and a half weeks.

For precious metals stored in Switzerland or Singapore, the procedure takes longer and the costs are higher. We handle this on request and always in consultation with you. It is often more cost-effective and faster to sell the precious metals locally and then purchase precious metals again in the Netherlands.

How can I collect my precious metals from storage in the Netherlands?

To collect precious metals stored in the Netherlands, you go through the following steps:

  1. You contact us by e-mail or by phone with a request to have your precious metals removed from storage.
  2. Holland Gold sends you a completed form for removing your precious metals from storage.
  3. You sign the form and send us a scanned copy. If we do not yet have a valid identity document from you, you also send us a copy of your identity document.
  4. You pay the €36 fee for removing your precious metals from storage.
  5. Holland Gold starts the process. After verification by Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe, your precious metals are released.
  6. You collect your precious metals by appointment at one of our offices in Alkmaar, Rotterdam or Breda. Upon collection, you sign for receipt.

How can I collect my precious metals from storage in Switzerland or Singapore?

It is possible to collect precious metals from storage on location in Switzerland or Singapore. The costs vary, but are usually around €200.

It is also possible to have the precious metals transported from storage to the Netherlands. Please note that the transport costs for insured air freight from Switzerland or Singapore can be significantly higher than the standard rate in the Netherlands.

If the precious metals are silver, platinum or palladium, they must be cleared through customs upon import into the Netherlands. VAT may also be due. This can make the process costly.

In practice, precious metals are therefore rarely transferred from Switzerland or Singapore to the Netherlands. It is often more cost-effective to sell the precious metals and then purchase precious metals again in the Netherlands.

Would you like to have precious metals removed from storage? Please contact our customer service team or call us on +31 88 468 8400.

What is Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe?

Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe is an independent foundation that supervises the release of precious metals from storage. Gold, silver, platinum or palladium cannot be removed from the vault by Holland Gold alone. Approval from the foundation is always required.

How does Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe work?

When you sell precious metals held in storage, Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe first checks whether the sale and payment have been processed according to the correct procedure. Only then does the foundation authorise the release of the gold, silver, platinum or palladium from the vault.

Would you like to withdraw your precious metals from storage? The foundation first reviews the request and the related documents. The precious metals are released for delivery or collection only after this check has been completed.

Why does this foundation exist?

This independent check helps prevent precious metals from being removed from storage without a valid reason or the correct documentation. The foundation therefore provides an additional layer of protection for customers’ property, alongside Holland Gold’s AFM licence and the annual audit.

How does selling precious metals from storage work?

You can sell precious metals from storage in two ways. Precious metals in the precious metals account can be sold directly online via the Holland Gold app or by logging in via the website. Stored bars and coins can be sold by phone on +31 88 468 8400.

Precious metals account

If you have purchased gold, silver, platinum or palladium per gram through the precious metals account, you can sell this 24/7 via the Holland Gold app or, when logged in via the website, in your account under ‘Buy/Sell precious metals account’.

You can also arrange this with us by phone. After the sale, the money will be transferred to your linked bank account within one working day.

Selling bars and coins from storage

Bars and coins held in storage cannot currently be sold independently online. For this, please contact one of our employees by phone.

The sale takes place in three steps:

  1. Calculate the value
You can easily look up the buyback price of your products on this webpage. Enter the quantities and you will see the total value in the overview.
  2. Lock in the price by phone
Contact one of our employees by phone to go through the sale. The buyback price is then fixed definitively. Any price movements after that will not affect the agreed price.
  3. Payout
The payout will be made to your linked bank account within one working day.

More information about selling precious metals and how our buyback prices are determined can be found in the frequently asked questions about selling.

Can I create an account for my children?

Yes, you can create an account for your minor child. This account will be linked to your own account.

Via the app:

Go to the profile icon in the top right corner, click on ‘create extra account’, select ‘child account’ and follow the steps.

Via the website:

Log in to your account, go to ‘Settings’ and then to ‘Account management’. Then click on ‘create extra account’ and follow the steps.

Would you like to open a savings plan for your child afterwards? In the Savings Plan and Precious Metals Account category, you can find more information about savings plans and the precious metals account.

What happens to my bullion if Holland Gold Safe goes bankrupt?

If Holland Gold Safe were to become insolvent, the precious metals you store with us would remain your property. The precious metals would not form part of the bankruptcy estate of Holland Gold Safe B.V.

In the event of insolvency, a trustee would work together with Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe to assess how the storage can be continued or wound down in an orderly manner. In that situation, you may request to have your precious metals removed from storage or transferred to another storage provider.

The structure of Holland Gold Safe is designed to protect the interests of customers. The operating costs of the trading company Holland Gold, a trading name of Bulliongroup B.V., are separate from the storage company Holland Gold Safe B.V.

The separation between the trading company and the storage company is part of the storage structure of Holland Gold Safe. This storage structure is described in the AFM-approved prospectus, on the basis of which Holland Gold obtained the AFM licence for precious metals in combination with storage.

This structure limits the financial risks for the storage company as much as possible. It provides customers with an additional safeguard for a stable and carefully designed storage structure at Holland Gold.

Is my precious metal at Holland Gold Safe fully my property and exclusively allocated to me (100% allocated)?

Yes, precious metals that you store with Holland Gold Safe are fully your property. Your gold, silver, platinum and palladium are 100% allocated, fully assigned to you, and insured for the full replacement value.

There are two forms of storage within Holland Gold Safe:

  1. Precious metals in the precious metals account
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium in the precious metals account are your full legal property. You own grams of precious metals from physical bars that are securely stored in Switzerland.
  2. Individual bars and coins in storage
Bars and coins that are added to your storage account are fully your property. For bars, the unique bar numbers are linked to your account. For coins, the sealbag numbers are registered.

Via the customer portal and the Holland Gold app, you always have insight into your holdings. Where applicable, you can also see the bar numbers and sealbag numbers.

How are ownership and 100% allocation guaranteed?

Precious metals stored with Holland Gold Safe are audited annually by an independent accountant.

Our storage locations in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Singapore meet the highest international K-10 security standards. We work with specialised international storage and transport companies, such as Loomis and Brink’s.

Holland Gold Safe operates on the basis of an AFM licence for precious metals in combination with storage. In addition, Stichting Derdengelden Holland Gold Safe has been established as an independent extra layer of control for the sale, delivery and collection of precious metals from storage.

This structure helps to clearly record your ownership and protect your interests in relation to storage, sale and delivery.
