Why invest in palladium?

Palladium is a precious metal, so it can be assumed to be a safe haven and provides protection against inflation, similar to gold. That's not entirely true. There is a positive correlation between gold and palladium prices, but in times of economic uncertainty, the price of palladium tends to fall against gold. Over the past 10 years, platinum has delivered an average annual return of about 3%, which is lower than gold.

Since palladium is widely used for catalytic converters, its price largely depends on the situation in the automotive industry. About 80 percent of the demand for palladium comes from the automotive industry. The rest of the demand is generated by industry, jewellery and investments.
