Plane in Russia loses cargo of gold

A Russian cargo plane carrying several tons of gold lost part of its cargo during take-off. It turned out that the hatch of the cargo hold was not properly closed, causing a large number of Gold bars fell out of the plane on take-off and landed on the runway.

This curious incident happened at the Yakutsk airport in the far east of Russia, an area where a lot of gold is mined. According to the Russian news agency Tass, there were 9.3 tons of gold bars and other precious metals on board the An-12 cargo plane.

The authorities have collected 172 gold bars weighing a total of 3.4 tonnes of gold from the runway, which is compared to the current Gold price is worth €119 million. No one was injured in the incident. Fortunately, we still have the footage.
