Do I pay VAT on silver coins?

Yes, starting January 1, 2025, a 21% VAT will be applied to the sale of all new silver coins, just as is already the case for silver bars. This change comes as the VAT regulation for silver coins has been harmonized across all European countries.

Existing silver coins will continue to fall under the margin scheme, making them significantly more attractive than new silver coins. These are often referred to as "mixed years" coins.
