Maple Leaf 1 troy ounce gold coin - various years

The 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) Gold Maple Leaf coin is globally recognized and highly tradable, featuring the iconic Canadian maple leaf on its reverse. The Maple Leaf is one of the world’s best-selling gold coins.

These coins of various years have been acquired from the market and come from the period between 1979 and 2024. From an investment perspective, these coins are particularly attractive as they are priced lower than the latest Maple Leaf (2025) which comes directly from the mint and is therefore more expensive. However, upon resale, you receive the same amount for all years of the Gold Maple Leaf coin.

First minted in 1979, the Maple Leaf was the world’s first coin with a purity of 99.99%, or 24 carats. The Gold Maple Leaf is issued annually by The Royal Canadian Mint and is renowned for its reliability and quality.

Gold offers protection in times of inflation
Gold offers protection in times of inflation
In the long term, gold retains its value, while currencies lose a lot of purchasing power. An example of the value retention of gold is that 2,000 years ago you could buy a tailor-made suit for one gold coin and that is still the case today.
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
The gold reserves at central banks act as the backing of a money system. According to DNB, gold is an 'anchor of trust': "If the entire financial system collapses, the gold supply provides collateral to start over."
Gold is a mainstay in the investment portfolio

Gold strengthens the portfolio through its long-term returns and diversification. Its traditional role as a safe haven means that gold is an asset in times of crisis, moving in the opposite direction to the rest of the portfolio.
