Arjo Klamer: Euro was and is unsustainable, diversity in currencies is the solution

In this episode, Paul Buitink talks to Arjo Klamer, professor of humanities economics at VU Amsterdam. Arjo is one of the economists who has been commenting on the euro since the 1990s and has written the book "The euro falls and what then?" (2014). Arjo says that the euro has become a kind of ideology and that it was and is taboo to speak critically about it.

Together, Paul and Arjo talk about alternatives, and making the euro more flexible and about crypto and the CBDC. Finally, there is a discussion about what life is really about, according to Arjo, namely the human economy: personal relationships and a sense of community that cannot be expressed in money and numbers.
