Panda 3 Gram Gold Coin - Various Years

The 3 gram Gold Panda is one of the smallest sizes in the Chinese Panda series and contains 3 grams of 999/1000 pure gold, equivalent to 24 carat. The 3 gram Gold Panda coin has a diameter of Ø 18 mm and a face value of 50 Chinese yuan.

The Gold Panda is the only globally recognised bullion coin from Asia and is issued under China’s central bank. Its 3 gram weight makes it an accessible bullion coin with an attractive panda design for those who want to start small or give a coin as a gift.

Although the premiums on smaller coins are relatively higher than on larger coins, the smaller size offers advantages. The 3 gram Gold Panda is one of the smallest pure gold bullion coins available. Would you like to remain flexible in the future when selling or trading small amounts of gold? If so, these coins are a practical option.

The 3 gram Gold Panda coins from various years have been purchased through the secondary market and come from years of issue from 2016 onwards. The year is not fixed; as a result, the price is lower than that of the most recent year of issue, while the gold content and buyback price are the same.

Design of the 3 gram Gold Panda coin

The reverse of the 3 gram Gold Panda coin features the giant panda in a design that changes every year, together with the weight “3g”, the purity “Au .999” and the face value. On a coin measuring just 18 mm, the sandblasting technique used to render the black-and-white fur pattern in shades of grey requires fine craftsmanship; the first version of this motif was designed by Cheng Zian in 1982.

The obverse features the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, an imperial sacrificial altar dating from 1420, with the inscription “People’s Republic of China” and the year of issue.

Why buy gold at Holland Gold?

Gold offers protection in times of inflation
Gold offers protection in times of inflation
In the long term, gold retains its value, while currencies lose a lot of purchasing power. An example of the value retention of gold is that 2,000 years ago you could buy a tailor-made suit for one gold coin and that is still the case today.
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
The gold reserves at central banks act as the backing of a money system. According to DNB, gold is an 'anchor of trust': "If the entire financial system collapses, the gold supply provides collateral to start over."

Gold strengthens the portfolio through its long-term returns and diversification. Its traditional role as a safe haven means that gold is an asset in times of crisis, moving in the opposite direction to the rest of the portfolio.
