Practice has taught us that accumulated family wealth has evaporated in many families after two generations. What do families that have successfully transferred wealth for several generations do differently from families that fail to do so? This question was central to the qualitative research Wealth transfer in the Netherlands. Through in-depth interviews with wealthy heirs, we found out how they grew up, how they were prepared for the future family capital and what their experiences with inherited assets were. A study of this magnitude and depth has never before taken place in Europe. Authors: Raimund Kamp, Marijke Kuijpers and Ad Kil
Due to insufficient preparation and communication, ambiguities and quarrels, the settlement of an estate alone can become a drama. Many heirs experience difficulties in managing their inheritance due to insufficient financial knowledge and experience. The inheritance also regularly leads to relationship problems and problems with meaning.
This handbook is interesting for wealthy parents, families with a family business, (future) heirs and their advisors, and interested parties who want an insight into the world of wealthy families. Topics covered include financial and wealth education, management of inherited assets and living with inherited assets. All this in line with practical research linked to scientific insights.
