Paul Buitink talks to former Commander of the Armed Forces Dick Berlin about the state of the Dutch army and that of NATO. Among other things, ammunition stocks and production capacity are examined. Berlin is in favour of increasing arms deliveries to Ukraine and investing heavily in our defence on a European scale. Even though there is a risk of nuclear escalation, Berlin believes it is important that we do not let ourselves be frightened by Russia.
He argues why Russia wants to restore his old boundaries. He also discusses the deployment of NATO troops, the return of Ukrainian refugees and the willingness of Dutch young people to die. BRICS and the changing world relations are also discussed. Finally, Buitink insists on the importance of de-escalation, ceasefire and peace talks.
