Maple Leaf 1 troy ounce zilveren munt 2025

The 2025 1 troy ounce Silver Maple Leaf represents the highest standard in silver bullion coins. Minted by the Royal Canadian Mint, it features Canada’s national emblem — the maple leaf — and ranks among the most trusted and widely traded silver coins in the world.

Struck from 99.99% pure silver, the Silver Maple Leaf has been issued annually since 1988 and carries a face value of 5 Canadian dollars, though its true value depends on the silver price. Known for its purity, quality and global recognition, the Silver Maple Leaf is one of Holland Gold’s most popular bullion coins.

With advanced security features guaranteeing authenticity and direct supply from the Royal Canadian Mint, the 2025 Silver Maple Leaf is the ultimate choice for investors in physical silver.

Under current legislation, newly minted silver coins are subject to 21% VAT. Business customers can reclaim this VAT, but private investors cannot. For them, a more attractive alternative may be the VAT-free Silver Maple Leaf various years. These coins have been pre-owned and traded before, allowing them to be sold VAT-free at a more favorable price.

Design

The Silver Maple Leaf is a masterpiece of design, craftsmanship and security. The obverse features the official portrait of King Charles III, accompanied by the year of issue (2025) and a face value of 5 Canadian dollars. The portrait was created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, whose initials “SR” appear in the King’s collar.

The reverse design has remained virtually unchanged since the coin’s introduction in 1988 and was designed by Walter Ott. It displays the word “CANADA”, the purity “9999”, and the weight “1 OZ FINE SILVER”. The detailed veins of the maple leaf give the design a distinctive depth and realism.

Security Features

The 2025 Silver Maple Leaf includes two advanced security features. A micro-engraved maple leaf beneath the main design reveals the last two digits of the year when viewed under magnification. Additionally, the coin features radial lines precisely engraved at the micron level, producing a unique light pattern. The 2025 edition also includes MINTSHIELD™ surface protection, a proprietary technology developed by the Royal Canadian Mint that helps prevent the formation of white spots on silver coins.

Why buy gold at Holland Gold?

Gold offers protection in times of inflation
Gold offers protection in times of inflation
In the long term, gold retains its value, while currencies lose a lot of purchasing power. An example of the value retention of gold is that 2,000 years ago you could buy a tailor-made suit for one gold coin and that is still the case today.
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
Gold is an insurance against a systemic risk
The gold reserves at central banks act as the backing of a money system. According to DNB, gold is an 'anchor of trust': "If the entire financial system collapses, the gold supply provides collateral to start over."
Gold is a mainstay in the investment portfolio

Gold strengthens the portfolio through its long-term returns and diversification. Its traditional role as a safe haven means that gold is an asset in times of crisis, moving in the opposite direction to the rest of the portfolio.
