Britannia 1/4 troy ounce silver coin

The silver Britannia coins are minted by the Royal Mint and are very popular coins. The 2021 edition of the Britannia coins will now also include the 1/4 troy ounce silver Britannia coins. 

Design of the Britannia coin

The obverse of the Britannia coin features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her likeness was designed by Jody Clark. The reverse of the Britannia coin shows a symbol of a nation created by Philpip Nathan standing next to a shield bearing the Union Flag. The Union Flag is the flag of the United Kingdom. There is also an olive branch to be seen and it represents peace. The back is also the side to which the safety features have been added.

Additions of safety features

The britannia 1/4 silver coin has 4 points on which the authenticity can be checked:

1. A hologram effect where the padlock turns into a trident when viewed from a different angle.

2.  Micro-details created on the coin by means of special laser engravings that give the visual effect that the waves are in motion

3. The Inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN, in English "an ornament and a safeguard", around the Britannia image has been created by means of special lasers.

4. A traditional art form that involves depicting colors and patterns on metal.
