Jeroen Blokland: recession is imminent, how to invest?

In this episode, Paul Buitink and Joris Beemsterboer talk to Jeroen Blokland. Jeroen had 5 billion euros under management during his time as multi-asset portfolio manager at Robeco and is now owner and principal investigator of True Insights. Together with Jeroen, Paul and Joris analyse the current market developments and, on the basis of his model, answer the question of whether we are already in a recession.

He also elaborates on the next crisis within the commercial real estate market and indicates that a turnaround is taking place in the labor market. Based on his analysis, he expects the economy to enter a recession in Q4-2023/Q1-2024. Beyond this, he explains the consequences of central bank policy and, as far as he expects increasing bankruptcies, he is concerned. Finally, he elaborates on the dedollarization that is taking place worldwide, gold and how he is organizing his portfolio with this impending recession.
