Paul Buitink talks to Jeroen Blokland about the crash in the Japanese stock market, the volatility in the market, and the role of central banks. Jeroen explains what the carry trade is and why, unlike the 'bears', he doesn't think the carry trade is going to disappear. He expects that we will see more flash crashes on the stock market in the near future due to the dynamics that have arisen.
He shares his expectation for bitcoin and gold and talks about his fund and the algorithm he uses. Unlike Warren Buffett, Jeroen does not use government bonds as a temporary safe haven, because he does not want to dilute his philosophy. He does not see a future in government bonds, because they are becoming less and less attractive in terms of return, volatility/risk and diversification. Gold has a much better story than government bonds in the long run.
Finally, he shares his positive outlook and advice for retail investors.
