In this episode, Robert Snijder van Wissenkerke talks to philosopher Jelle van Baardewijk. Jelle lectures at the University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and is one of the regular faces of the podcast the New World.
The theme of the conversation is trust and distrust. Trust in politics has continued to decline over the past 10 years and is even turning into distrust. How does trust and/or distrust arise? Do we trust each other at all in an age of individualization, globalization and increasing censorship?
According to Jelle, there is also a responsibility on the part of the citizen, they have to organize themselves and come up with a solid story to offer a counterbalance. Otherwise, we will come to a time when the tide turns.
At the end, Robert and Jelle also talk about the trust that people place in gold and the risks of digital money.
