Platinum bar 1 troy ounce LPPM

The 1 troy ounce platinum bar contains 31.1 grams of pure platinum with a fineness of 999.5/1000 and is produced by various LPPM-accredited refiners. These are typically Swiss platinum bars from Credit Suisse, manufactured by the renowned Valcambi refinery.

The LPPM stands for the London Platinum and Palladium Market — the global trade organization for platinum and palladium. Only refiners that meet the highest quality standards are approved for international trade and added to the LPPM Good Delivery List. This certification is comparable to the LBMA standard used in the gold and silver markets.

Important to Know

All 1 troy ounce platinum bars are subject to 21% VAT, which is already included in the price shown in our webshop. If you are purchasing the bars through a business, you can reclaim the VAT. However, this does not apply to private investors. In that case, you may wish to explore alternative ways to buy platinum VAT-free.

Why choose the 1 troy ounce Platinum Bar – LPPM Certified

  • Optional insured storage in Amsterdam
  • LPPM-accredited refinery
  • Buyback guarantee from Holland Gold

Design

Each 1 troy ounce platinum bar is struck from a platinum sheet using a unique die. Every bar bears its own serial number and the name or logo of the refinery. As these bars are listed on the LPPM Good Delivery List, they meet the highest industry standards and contain a minimum of 99.95% pure platinum.

Platinum is a rare precious metal. Annual global production is approximately 6% of that of gold and less than 1% of silver. Like silver, platinum is widely used in industry — in the manufacture of (commercial) vehicles, jewelry, and pharmaceuticals. The metal’s value is influenced by both industrial demand and investor interest.

1 Troy Ounce

One troy ounce equals 31.103 grams. The term “troy ounce” originates from the French city of Troyes, a major medieval trading center in Europe where a standardized weight for precious metals was first established. To this day, the troy ounce remains the standard unit of measurement for precious metals. The international platinum price is quoted in U.S. dollars per troy ounce. Note that a troy ounce differs from the regular (avoirdupois) ounce used for everyday goods, which equals 28.35 grams.
