Jelena Postuma: end of petrodollar, rise of BRICS, multipolar world order and gold-backed currency

In this episode, Paul Buitink and Joris Beemsterboer talk to Jelena Postuma. Jelena is an economist, is known for her extensive knowledge of the BRICS and regularly joins BlackBox. She is also party leader for the Forum of Democracy in Flevoland. In this conversation, Jelena elaborates on the origins of the BRICS and why this group is gaining more and more popularity in non-Western countries. More than 30 countries have already signed up to join the BRICS. Why is this taking place right now and what are the challenges for the BRICS, are questions that Jelena answers in this video.

She also elaborates on the origins of the petrodollar and gives her vision on the role of the dollar as a world reserve currency. More and more non-Western countries want the dollar to lose this role. Finally, she analyses the latest geopolitical developments and expresses her expectations about the arrival of a multipolar world order with a gold-backed currency as an alternative to the dollar.
