General information
The silver Kookaburra was first issued in 1990 by the Australian Perth Mint in one troy ounce. It wasn't until a year later that variants in 2 troy ounces, 10 troy ounces and one kilogram were added. The design of the Kookaburra is changed every year, which is one of the reasons why the coin is very popular with collectors. The coin has a face value of 30 Dollar, the intrinsic value of the coin is much higher, because it is determined by the silver price. The coin has a weight of 1000 grams, a purity of 999.9% and a diameter of 101.00 mm x 14.60 mm.
Design
The design of the coin consists on one side: the new 2020 design of the Kookaburra with the words "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", the respective year of issue, volume and purity "2020 1 KILO 999 SILVER". On this side a kookaburras can be found, the kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is also called laughing bird because of the call of the bird. It closely resembles a human laugh. It is native to southern and eastern Australia. The other side shows a portrait of "Elizabeth II Australia", which was subjected to minor changes over time. The portrait is framed all around with the inscription "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA * 30 DOLLARS *". The edge of the Kookaburra is ribbed without an inscription.
